In order to support and promote cooperation between solar energy, energy storage and energy storage grid technology companies, a new industry alliance was established.
Under the leadership of Markus A.W. Hoehner, CEO of the consultancy EuPD Research, and Bryan D. Ekus, Operations Director of IPVEA, the International Photovoltaic Manufacturing Equipment Association, the first alliance of battery and energy storage solutions suppliers in the photovoltaic field was formally established a few days ago.
Members from the International Battery and Energy Storage Alliance (IBESA) will create opportunities for expert resources, market consulting, new networks and emerging markets. More than 70 members of the International Photovoltaic Manufacturing Equipment Association will immediately benefit from this partnership.
Hoehner said that in order to unify the more fragmented power storage and smart grid markets, it is critical to establish a strong global industrial alliance such as the International Battery and Energy Storage Alliance.
The photovoltaic energy storage market is constantly developing, and many countries such as Germany are formulating corresponding policies. In addition, driven by such policies, the photovoltaic energy storage market is expected to exceed US$19 billion by 2017.
The International Battery and Energy Storage Alliance aims to promote the development of photovoltaic and corresponding energy storage markets, thereby bringing more benefits to its member companies. Ekus of the International Photovoltaic Manufacturing Equipment Association added that this international alliance is based on mutual cooperation between different branches and exchanges between IPVEA and the newly established IBESA members.
