Why does India lack Li-ion battery manufacturing?

There are absolutely no Lithium mines in India and thus we cannot obtain the raw material to manufacture Lithium Ion batteries.

Besides, there are absolutely no Indian companies that are willing to take the risk to import raw material Lithium from any other country, as it poses a fire hazard.

Last, but not the least, the technology to manufacture Lithium Ion batteries is not very familiar for Indian companies and that joint ventures will only result in huge financial losses, with little advantage.

So, the best bet is to manufacture other Electronic components in India, and import only the batteries from other countries for Electric Vehicles and consumer electronics.
